A Friday at Ghostbot
I've been inspired by Enrico's recent mobile blogging so I thought I should put my own camera phone to use and give it a whirl. Ah technology...
9:45 am - Driving through the Golden Gate Park on my way to the "Ghostcave". I hope to never take for granted that I get to drive through such a beautiful park every day to get to work.
10:00 am - Greeted at the front door by our official mascot, Kyoko. Before, Kyoko used to get all excited when we arrived in the morning - so much so that she had to bite down on one of her many stuffed toys like a cowboy shot in the arm. But lately, she's been so obedient that she barely barks and doesn't budge an inch from her spot when we come...
10:02 am - ...that's because a food reward tastes better than a mouthful of stuffed animal fur.
10:30 am - Brad's at his computer, taking care of some last minute finances and loving it up on cutey girl designs. You guessed it, those are Flash menus peeking out on his computer. I think it's open as some sort of comfort. Also, you'll notice he's writing with the official "Ghostbot pen". We like to call him "Mr. Rau" when he does that.
11:00 am - Alan is busy typing some important email at his computer no doubt. His color-coded Ghostbot Daily Schedule is laid out nice and neat right next to him. Hmm...I don't see "write important emails" scheduled in. Maybe that's why we're always behind. Also, a supplement to his already packed schedule are the "must-do" post-its on his monitor. I think the one on the left says "Buy more post-its".
11:30 am - One of the things I like to do in the morning is check my favorite blogs. Well this morning, we had the treat of finding out that we were blogged on Charley Parker's Lines and Colors blog. Looks like he's compiling a neat collection of inspiring artists with some insightful write-ups. Go give him some traffic.
12:30 pm - Lunchtime already? That's right. We don't mess around at Ghostbot when it comes to lunch. We've tried before and we've lost. One of our favorite default restaurants is Kiki's Restaurant. Good, cheap lunch boxes and Brad's favorite chicken udon. Plus they have Miyazaki posters on the walls.
1:30 pm - Here's a shot of Irving Street. We love this location because there are a lot of great restaurants, branches for each of our banks, and most importantly our Wednesday comic book stop, Amazing Fantasy.
4:30 pm - Where did the day go? I admit, I forgot to take a few pictures in between lunch and now, but they would've just been the same shot of us staring blankly at our computers. Instead, I've fast forwarded to when our "supro-ducer", Corrine, whips out her complimentary copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2. But before we can grab it and pop it into the PS2, we're thwarted by our ever-looming schedule. Curse you, colored boxes!
6:15 pm - Packing up. The amazing thing about this overhead shot is that I could almost fit everyone in with my measly camera phone by just standing on a chair (including Kyoko and Mr. Crab). Now that's what I call "close quarters". You can feel the love.
6:30 pm - Another day, another week. I like to think Kyoko is sad to see us go. But instead she's hoping for seconds for dinner. What a sweetie.
Hope you enjoyed seeing snapshots of our day. I'd like to do this more, but we'll see once I get my phone bill...

That is an awesome blog post. A true slice of Ghostbot life. You've made Kyoko famous! Maybe she'll make it in the Dec 05 issue of Pet Fancy.
The sad thing is the day never truly ends as we burn the midnight oil to meet our deadlines. Will I ever get to play Battlefront II?
Hey Roque, your camera phone makes the Ghostcave look bigger than it is, amazing!
I still haven't played Battlefront II either... curse you midnight oil, curse you!!!
Love this blog!I'm gonna add this site to my watch list!!! Please post some more. ^^
Welcome, Sandra! "Watch list"? That means we have to keep updating now... DOH!
HA! This is a great post! Always nice to see the workspaces of others. I vote the Ghostbot'rs post more pictures of their Ghostlair.
Jared - "More pictures"? That's all there is to the Ghostlair. If we had more space, I'd use a bigger camera! However, we are hoping to do similar day-in-the-life posts like this one in the future (with or without the great expanse of studio space).
That's why we draw on Post-Its. We can't fit any larger size paper in the Ghostlair.
Great post, Roque! I love it. It's always fascinating to see how other fellow animators/artists conduct their day-to-day business, no matter how dull it may seem to be. Just to check out where you guys go for lunch and such is fascinating!
Thanks again!
