Lara Croft + Jim Lee = Nerd Heaven
That's right, the gods of Nerd Yore have smiled upon us and teamed up two icons of the comic world. Recently, Gametap launched a new internet mini-series entitled "Tomb Raider: Re/Visioned" to celebrate 10 years of the Tomb Raider franchise. Each episode is a different animated version of Lara as reimagined by various artists including Peter Chung, Cully Hamner, and Louie Del Carmen.
Episode 10:"A Complicated Woman" was designed by Jim Lee and written by Christos N. Gage. We had the privilege of being asked to work with the team at Wildstorm to bring this vision to life. This was a dream come true considering we are all big fans of Jim Lee's work (especially those of us who bought multiple sealed copies of his comics in the 90's). Needless to say, our collective Ghostbot jaw hit the ground when we saw all the artwork that came from Wildstorm. Those guys can draw and Lara Croft was no exception.
Animating something in Flash that is as detailed and complicated as comic art was a unique challenge, yet I think we were blinded by the excitement of being able to work on a project with such a legend in the comic world. Hopefully there will be more opportunities like this in the future!

Roque,
Wow nice job! I am truly glad you and Gametap are able to work together... I really wanted you guys for the "Raising Thaumopolis" episode but it turned out even better having to work with Wildstorm and the great Jim Lee.
All the best to you guys at Ghostbot!
I wanted to write you guys but I couldn't seem to find a functioning e-mail contact. Is there a specific e-mail address I should use? Thanks -
-boob.
congrats again on another awesome project!!!
A lot of great things going on here, But then that's exactly what I'd expect from you guys.
One thing though, the dialogue, anyon else find it all a little off? I'm English but every so often I find British accents in stuff really grating? Not exactly sure why but it didn't quite work for me.
louie: Thanks for the props! One day we'll work with you...one day...
boob: Our email address is on our "Contact" page. It's ghostbot(at)ghostbot.com
andy: "Another awesome project"? We thought this was our first one!
bentos: Thanks! Dialogue was handled by Gametap. At least they were lucky enough to snag authenti-Brit Minnie Driver for the voice of Lara.
Aw, man-- Jim Lee is one of the only Image guys who's art I still geek out on. Awesome stuff.
Sorry to bug youse guys - the Ghostbot e-mail on the contact page has bounced back on me twice now. Oh well - I suppose it could be on my end somehow. Not a big deal, but ya might wanna look into it if ya haven't been receiving e-mails.
PS - I watched all the Tomb Raiders. Even with limited animation it was consistent and well done. Top of the heap I'd say.
Hey Boob-
Sorry, try again. Our mailbox was filled to the brim with spam. Booo...
Did someone say "Spam?!?" Mmmm... delicious meat substitute...
Awesome job guys!!!
I liked the short. Pretty sweet. It's cool seeing Jim Lee's style in motion.
