Someplace hot just froze over

Robert Zemeckis' thoughts on his upcoming film, "The Polar Express" (starring a CG/mocap Tom Hanks): "$165 million = thrifty spending". All I know is I hope Chris Van Allsburg got a good paycheck...

I saw Polar Express about two nights ago. (So I like to indulge my inner child, is that a problem?) It was... breathtaking- how real the characters were. You could easily see yourself in their world... just like I used to be able to see myself playing Jumanji with grayscale apes.

I know that they'll be using the songs in it for children's choirs across the nation in at least four years.

Then again, my boyfriend who had read the book- not recently, mind you, just a childhood favorite- said that so much of it was filler. And I'm not suprised. But that didn't make it any less enjoyable for me. And, if this was the quality of the movie, I say it was money well spent... for those that take their inner child/little child to see it. Barring complications, I'd say Allsburg will get a hefty check for his basic, if magical and original plot.

Timely post, Moueska, because it looks like the train just keeps on chugging. Good for them. Good for the industry. Good for Van Allsburg.
