Super-Macho interview

Cold, Hard Flash has done it again with a cool interview with animation powerhouse, Jorge Gutierrez! I was first exposed to Jorge's work when we were neighbors on the action channel for Sony's short-lived Screenblast.com. I've actually gotten to know him since then and am constantly amazed by his talent. He's a fantastic designer with ideas that will knock your socks off and hang them out to dry. Make sure you check out his website, Super-Macho!

The Frederator Postcards Book

Frederator Studios - incubator for many animated hits such as Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, and My Life as a Teenage Robot - will be releasing a book documenting their annual studio postcards since 1998. Check out their blog for a great opportunity to download a link to a PDF preview. There's artwork from a ton of artists that read like a who's-who of bigshots in tv animation including Tim Biskup (Time Squad, Gama-Go), Dave Wasson (Time Squad, The Buzz on Maggie), Carlos Ramos (The Xs), Vincent Waller (Ren & Stimpy, Spongebob Squarepants), Rob Renzetti (Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, My Life as a Teenage Robot), Alex Kirwan (Chalkzone, My Life as a Teenage Robot), and Bob Boyle (The Fairly Oddparents, Danny Phantom, Wubby, Widget and Walden) to name a few. Super cool!

Joe Post-it

It all started when I found this post-it on my desk:

It was left by fellow creator/director, Dave Fremont who at the time was working on his quirky and hilarious web show Glue. Dave is a wicked artist and an extremely funny writer, so when he puts his mind to something, you never know what will come out of his pencil. Maybe something like this:

Or this:

When you drop this temptation in front of a bunch of easily-distracted artists, you get a lot more where this came from...

Those pesky bad guys

Here are those pesky badguys from the Esurance spots. Below is a rough drawing that Roque, Brad and I drew over before we brought it into flash. Posted by Hello

Erin's world

Here is a website we stumbled across recently starring our favorite pink haired gal Erin from Esurance. The site includes quicktime and windows media player versions of the two spots (They playback kinda choppy, but it's still cool to see them on the web!) I've been told by the peeps at Wildbrain that these spots have inspired lots of young starting animators. That is really great, since I was inspired to go into commercials after catching a glimpse of Mike Smith's work back in the (C)olossal days.... Posted by Hello

Cold, Hard Flash

We just got interviewed by Aaron Simpson for his Flash specific blog, Cold Hard Flash. His site is quickly becoming the go-to-hub for the Flash animation industry today. Make sure you check out his other interviews that are archived on the site. Thanks for the opportunity, Aaron, and keep up the good work!
